Isopropylamine
C3H9N · CAS 75-31-0
Pesticides, rubber, medicine
A branched primary amine: the isopropyl group makes the amino group bulkier than in linear propylamine. It is consumed in pesticide manufacturing, in the rubber industry and in medicine. The hazard is twofold: GHS lists it as flammable liquid 2 with skin corrosion 1B, serious eye damage 1 and STOT SE 3, while explosive limits of 2.0–10.4 % make vapor monitoring and equipment grounding mandatory during transfer. LD50 370 mg/kg, exposure limit 12 mg/m³; supplied only to organizations that have completed verification.
