Caustic soda (sodium hydroxide)
NaOH · CAS 1310-73-2
Paper, textiles, pH control
Caustic soda (NaOH) is a strong alkali and serves as the base reagent wherever an alkaline medium is required: pulp cooking, textile processing, pH control of process streams. Dissolving the alkali releases a noticeable amount of heat, and it reacts with aluminum and zinc to release hydrogen, which is taken into account when equipment is selected. H290 - May be corrosive to metals. Supplied to legal entities; every batch comes with the manufacturer's certificate of analysis.
