Tri-n-butylamine
C12H27N · CAS 102-82-9
Catalysts, solvents
A tertiary amine of the butylamine series carrying three n-butyl groups. The nitrogen is shielded and holds no free hydrogen, so the compound works as an acid-binding base in catalysis and as a solvent. On flammability it is the mildest in this section (flammable liquid 4, skin irritation 2, eye irritation 2A, STOT SE 3), yet its exposure limit is the strictest here: 5 mg/m³ (ACGIH) with an LD50 of 360 mg/kg. Supplied to legal entities once the organization has been verified.
