Monoethylamine
C2H7N · CAS 75-04-7
Pesticides, pharmaceuticals, rubber
A primary aliphatic amine with a sharp ammonia-like odor, used to introduce the ethylamino group in the manufacture of pesticides, pharmaceutical ingredients and rubber industry products. As a base it forms the corresponding salts with acids, which helps in isolating and purifying reaction products. GHS classification: flammable liquid 2, skin corrosion 1B, serious eye damage 1, STOT SE 3, so the material is handled in a fume hood and away from ignition sources. Reference figures: LD50 590 mg/kg, exposure limit 18 mg/m³; every lot ships with the manufacturer's certificate of analysis and a safety data sheet.

Used with equipment
-
BPT6SC0030
Why: Boils at 17 °C. Under pressure it stays liquid, so amination can run with heating
-
ZTM / VRE systems
Why: Flammable liquid, Category 2: processes in an Ex zone
-
Rotary evaporators
Why: Flammable liquid, Category 2: Ex models R-…Ex only
-
BT Series
Why: Captures vapors: bp 17 °C
Highly flammable amines (flammable liquids, Category 2) require explosion-proof equipment.
Turnkey solutions: BPT6SC0030 microchannel reactor, ZT/ZTM and ZTM-Ex dynamic temperature control systems, Rotary evaporators, including explosion-proof versions, BT series water and gas traps
