Sodium percarbonate
2Na2CO3·3H2O2 · CAS 3313-92-6
Oxygen source, aquaculture
Sodium percarbonate is a solid adduct of sodium carbonate and hydrogen peroxide (2Na2CO3·3H2O2), in effect a dry form of peroxide: in water it breaks down into sodium carbonate and hydrogen peroxide, releasing oxygen. Hence the applications listed in the catalog, namely an oxygen source and aquaculture, where oxygen is added as a solid reagent rather than a gas; dissolving it also makes the water alkaline because of the soda released. H272 - May intensify fire; oxidizer, so the product is stored apart from combustible materials and reducing agents. Supplied to organizations after verification; the certificate of analysis for the batch is issued by the manufacturer.
