Sodium hypochlorite
NaClO · CAS 7681-52-9
Disinfection, chemical synthesis
The oxidizing and disinfecting action of sodium hypochlorite (NaClO) comes from the release of available chlorine, which is why the item is used both for disinfection and as an oxidizing and chlorinating agent in synthesis. Hypochlorite solutions are incompatible with acids: mixing them releases chlorine gas. H314 - Causes severe skin burns and eye damage, so the work is done in goggles and gloves. Supplied to verified organizations, with the manufacturer's certificate of analysis.
